FAQ's What you need to know about dog boarding and doggy daycare
What is special about Misty Glen?
We call our place Misty Glen Country Retreat for Dogs, because it offers a unique setting a experience for your dog. on We are a 5-acre country setting that offers individualized care for overnight dog boarding (Dog Hotel) full-day, supervised doggy day care (Day Camp) and bath & brush services, for dogs who love to be social and need plenty of room to run and play. Tall trees and wildlife are in abundance, and a very special, caring and highly trained staff care for your dog.
Q: Do big and little dogs play together?
No. We have separate groups for big dogs and little dogs. Generally, the break is around 35 pounds over/under.
Q: What should I bring for my dog's overnight stay?
We recommend bringing your dog's regular food and any necessary medications or supplements in their original packaging. You are welcome to pack quick-eating treats like biscuits or cookies. Please do NOT bring food bowls, slow feeders, blankets, beds, plush toys, or long-lasting chews or bones. We provide luxury raised cots, clean fleece blankets, bowls and slow feeders, if needed, at no extra charge.
Q: What vaccinations and health records are required?
All dogs must have current immunizations including Rabies, Distemper, Parvo, and Bordetella. Your vet can email records directly to mistyglenkennel@yahoo.com. All doggie guests must be on active flea and tick preventatives. Canine influenza vaccine is highly recommended for local Westlake pets and is mandatory for dogs arriving from outside Northeast Ohio.
Q: Are there age, behavioral, or breed restrictions?
Puppies can start camp as early as 12 weeks old, as long as they have received all of the mandatory vaccinations, including rabies. Any dog older than 6 months of age must be spayed or neutered to participate in group activities. Dogs must be mobile, healthy, non-aggressive, well-mannered and have no toy-guarding tendencies. Currently we do have a breed restriction list. Due athletic muscle density and breed-specific play styles, we do not currently accept most power breeds. This includes German Shepherds, Akita, Doberman, and Bully breeds. Since most mixed-breed dogs are mixed with one or more of our restricted breeds in their lineage, we would love for you to text us at 440-871-2848 so see if they pass our restrictions.
Q: Is all-day play really included in the boarding price?
Yes! Unlike other facilities that charge extra for individual outdoor walks or play blocks, all-day supervised group play is completely bundled into our baseline overnight hotel rate. Your pup will enjoy at least 6 to 8 hours of daily group activating roaming our massive 5,000 square foot grassy outdoor yards or relaxing in our climate-controlled indoor playrooms, when the weather is yucky!
Q: What are your hours and holiday policies?
Doggie Day Camp is open Mon-Friday from 6:45 AM to 6:00 PM and Saturdays from 8:00 AM - 6:00 pm. For our Dog Hotel, drop off is from when we open, until 3 pm. Check-out is by 3 pm on your check-out day. Late checkout is available until 6:00 pm for a minor half-day fee. Doggie Day Camp is drop off and pick up at any time Monday through Saturday up until 6 pm. There are no pick-ups available after 6 PM. Our front office is closed for drop-offs/pick-ups on the following holidays: Easter, Memorial Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, New Year's Day. If you dog is staying with us on one of those holidays, they still receive the same care and exercise as on a normal day.
