How are the dogs housed?

Will my dog share spaces with other dogs?

For overnight boarding, each dog is assigned their own kennel space for sleeping and eating.  At our facility all of the dogs are in group play throughout the day.  The time they are in their private kennel space is when they are eating meals and while sleeping overnight.  If your dog has a sibling from the same household who can eat meals peacefully in the same space, they may kennel together upon request.

For group play doggy daycare the dogs spend their time in our outdoor play yards with plenty of room to run and play, along with our climate controlled indoor playrooms.

Are the kennels exposed to the outside?

No, the kennels are completely indoors.  The dogs spend their outdoor time in the play yards in supervised group play.  The dogs receive at least 8 hours of outdoor or playroom exercise throughout the day

Should I bring my own food?  Can I bring treats?

Yes!  We encourage you to bring your dog's own food and treats.  We do have food if your dog runs out and does not have allergies to foods other than their own.  We charge extra for use of our house foods.

For safety reasons, we do not accept chew bones or any treat that is long lasting, such as chews which cannot be eating quickly.  Dog biscuits, cookies and training treats are fine!

What kind of activities are provided and for how long?

We offer a full day of outdoor/indoor play for your pet!  All dog go to doggy daycare during the day.  Day care groups are supervised throughout the day by a pack leader dog specialist.  There is plenty of room to run and play with friends, watch wildlife (geese, ducks, deer, birds, squirrels, ground hogs) and not-so-wildlife (our pet goats are within the sideline of the dogs).  We offer ball play and tug of war toys in our camps as well.  When a dog is ready to rest, they are permitted to get some quite time in the sun, in our climate-controlled playroom, or the quiet of their private kennel space.  The full day of play is 7-8 hours, with rest times and mealtimes added for a complete 11 hour day of activity.

Does my dog need a trial run?

Yes, we require three visits to our facility prior to accepting a dog for dog boarding or to join our regular doggy daycare group.  You can drop them off for a half day of camp (5 hours or less, drop off and pick up any time within our hours of operation) or a full day of camp (up to 11 hours, drop off and pick up any time within our hours of operation).  Our initial test day takes 1-3 hours, and we will send you an update as to how your dog is doing.  If they are doing well, they can stay for the full half-day or full day of day care.  Please Email us (mistyglenkennel@yahoo.com)or Text us (440-871-2848) to set up your dog's first play test day!

How do you introduce my dog to the group?

Dogs are introduced to the group by meeting one dog at a time.  We move this process on your dog's schedule and comfort with meeting their new friends.  Once your dog has successfully met each dog, they can join the group for play.

What behaviors are required for dogs at your facility?

We require common dog manners to play in group successfully.  Recalling to their name is essential.  The must be able to gently play and listen to cues from other dogs.  For puppies this is a learning process, and we understand this and will work through it at their pace and give you feedback as to what support we may need at home to integrate your puppy successfully to the play group.

Do you seperate groups by size and energy?

As a general rule, we separate dogs into two groups - over 35 pounds and under 35 pounds. Elderly dogs who are larger than 35 pounds may be added to the smaller group for reasons of safety and comfort of your elderly pet.  They must pass a more stringent behavior bar to do this.

Do you have breed restrictions?

Yes, we have a number of breed restrictions.  As a small facility, we specialize in the lighter breeds and as such we do not accept the majority of bully breeds who are far more dense and powerful in play.  This is because the group ends up being much like high school football tackles against middle school football tackles - it is quite uneven play!  See a full list of restricted breeds here >

What will happen in a medical emergency?

Your entry paperwork (boarding agreement) will give us permission to administer first aid and to take your vet for veterinary care if we deem it necessary.  We use two emergency vets in the area which include West Park Animal Hospital and Animal Clinic Northview.  Sometimes, sadly, the emergency clinics are full and will not accept emergencies.  We have a further list of clinics we can try to reach.

In the even that it is not an emergency, but they still need to see the vet, we will try to get in to your regular vet prior to going to an emerc

Are the dogs supervised overnight?

While we do not have staff in the kennel overnight, we do have someone on the property overnight.

What are your days and hours of operation?

Our dog hotel is open for boarding 356 days out of the year.  Our front office is closed, and doggy day care is closed for Christmas Day, New Year's Day, Easter Sunday, Memorial Day and Labor Day.
